She had heard rumors, had also witnessed the horror herself, of the humans that had killed her brethren.. All Hell had broken loose, slaughter, blood, murder, in a battle of superiority. Who had won? Who had kept the land they had originated from? The wolves. They had conquered, but the humans had made their mark. A few of their structures still remained, marring the beautiful forestry, ruining the wildness of their world. Their own canines had also blended with their line of pure wolves, duplicating the ones that had arrived with the people, and hybrids ran amuck, oblivious to the life their parents and ancestors had led, knowing only the way of the wild canine. As was it was all supposed to be. Dogs, every type of canine, was meant to run free, not reside as mere pets, animals to amuse the humans that the wild ones so despised, unknowing to the joyous freedom that could have, so simply idiotic, so stupid. She pitied the creatures.

Unlike the neighboring packs, she had kept far from the fray, in the haven of Terrafall, where the ones with sense remained. None of them were killed, they remained safely intact and whole, unmarked by the two-legged misfits. They were the clever ones of the three, and proudly wore their mantle of intelligence. Her ways were slightly different. She believed she was equal to all others, and that though blessed with cleverness, she did not strut the advantage with a haughty demeanor. Just another asset of being truly wise, especially for the number of years she had lived, which was indeed three. She hated the humans just like the next wholesome wolf, but sacrifice herself in a pursuit to drive them from their island? She didn`t think so, especially when there were so many other willing candidates to destroy the humans that had attempted to capture and tame their isle of wilderness. They had been taught their lesson, and would most likely leave their land in peace for a while at least. But if they returned.. once again they would conquer.

Slowly, she padded forth, nostrils dilating as she tested the slight breeze that rustled throughout the forestry that surrounded her, the shimmering emerald leaves rustled secretively, concealing her within the dense depthes of the wooded area. She felt secluded, separated, somehow, from her fellows.. There was an explanation, her logical side nagged, and her lobes twitched alertly as she cautiously thrust her delicately tapered muzzle skyward to better scent her surroundings. Nothing.. Not the constant scent of a dominant leader, nothing.. That meant that Terrafall was alpha-less, and once an oppurtunity presents itself.. How could she ignore the irony of the situation? A small, knowing smile soon unfurled as she once more tilted her head back, brilliant saphire irises glinting fiercely as a howl split the silence; a melody poured from her maw like silk, and slowly faded. Perhaps a tad dramatic, but you had to admit, the girl had style.

status; finished.
other; claiming post.

A hardened look of determination burned upon Severe's emotionless facade, betraying nothing at all too any who watched. Terrafall, he had heard much about this realm...but perhaps the mopst intriguing bit of information he had picked up was the fact that there was an alpha female..but no alpha male. The perfect opportunity for the large, silvery male, what could possibly go wrong now? Hell, though his looks portrayed otherwise, there was a certain anxiety rushing just below the surface, and he just couldn't wait.

His pace was quick, everything passed in a colorless blur, almost as if the gods above allowed him to glide across the very earth, lifted by the clouds above. Stretching his body further and further with each stride, a smirk plastered upon his angular features, golden orbs narrowing intently towards the darkening sky above. "So much foor me being a worthless waste Nero!"

He thought smugly, directing all the anger inside of him towards his 'father'..well, Nero was his adoptive father, but that sure as hell didn't make him any nicer. Severe had never known his true father, as Nero had stolen him away from his parents when he was a newborn, and raised him with the help of a nursing female.

No, he never would forgive the demon for what he did, even if he fell before him and begged...but this was Nero, not some idiotic pup with no self respect, and an apology was a dream that would never come..

Heh, if he asked for it, the blackened alphen would spit in his face, that or kill him, such words were stupid and degrading, or so Nero thought, but his thoughts meant nothing to the young silver male.

Halting as quickly as he had started off, tapered visage snapped to the left, a new scent had entered the vicinity..no doubt belonging to the alphena Aerolyah, yes he knew her name, he had at least done his research before entering the land, for it would be a foolish suicide attempt to come unprepared. Allowing all emotion to dissipate from his features, taking in a deep drink of fresh oxygen before the long howl of challenge was released.

Sure, there was said to be no alphen, but sources were unreliable, but this call would be enough to draw out any lurking threat, and if there was none, then he would assume his rightful position. As the song ended, the echoes finally waned, and his fiery orbs widened once more.

Limbs complaining over the long journey, he simply shifted positions, though refused to lower his haunches, leaving himself defenseless... Instead he stood, tall and powerful as ever, casting his lengthy shadow amongst the thousands of others, his mass silhouetted against a concentrated strain of sunlight.

Keeping alert, pointed harks flickered at every sound, rotating simultaneously atop his skull, as if they had a mind of their own..

He was all too aware of the female presense lurking in the shadows, but he would not seek her out, no, such a call would send her to him, and he was ready for whatever came. The snapping hiss of twigs broken entwine caught his attentions, and he glanced to the left, only to send a lone lagamorph bounding into the bush.

"As if I would waste such substantial energy on such a pithy meal..." he scoffed inwardly, such a small beast the rabbit was, and yet it's will to live surpassed that of many.. They would run as quickly as they could, and as far as they had to just to live on to another damned day.

Why? How should he know, he was a lupine, not a rabbit, the two were far too different to ever think alike, much less to have one understand the other. Still, he would leave the minuscule herbivores alone, no harm in that?

There was no shame in hunting large prey, that would feed him for many days. Alone it was hard, damn near impossible, but there always were the calves, the elderly, injured, or the sick, no one could live off hunting completely healthy, vital prey all on their own. Now, there was nothing left but too wait, and he was all too patient for the likings of most...an advantage or a curse, depends on your mindset.

"Oh Aerolyah..come out come out where-ever you are..." The words were muttered softly, and in a none too playful tone, this was a serious matter.

Aero wasn`t on of those delicate, dainty females that looked breakable, like a china doll, nor was she a run-about 'tom-boy.' She had her own personality, labels were for those shallow enough to live by them. Labels were for humans, sure, and soup cans, but for canines? They just didn`t fit, like a too-small sweater shrunk in the wash. Nor was she a sweet little ray of sunshine, in fact... she was rather sarcastic. Wary of strangers, yes, but sarcastic none-the-less. She wouldn`t tolerate taunting, it just didn`t fly with her, she`d rather go a round in a brawl than be the object of a tease; the teaser would certainly learn if they ignored her first and last warning. After that warning warning bells seemed to go off, alerting the fool of their mistake. She lived in a world of grey, not black or white, grey. Things weren`t this or that, there was a vast expanse in the middle of the two. She was normally skilled at reading a canine from their appearance and expression, though she admitted herself it wasn`t a completely accurate way to read somebody. No matter, she had no other method until she had gotten to know the canine in question.

A sparrow cocked its head, small, beady eyes glittering like stones of onyx as he considered his surroundings. Tiny talons were digging into the branch he perched upon, swaying as he shifted his head, puffing his breast out, beak parting to allow brilliant song to fill the still atmosphere. He ruffled his wings, glancing down to view the alabaster wench passing underfoot. Occasionally he looked in the direction of another sparrow a few branches below, a female that he was attempting to charm with his melodious voice. He opened his mouth again, and more song was drawn from his vocal cords, his tone growing more persuasive. Finally the female bird gave him recognition, peering up from her lower perch. Taking the hint eagerly, he flirted down, showing of his magnificence as he performed a turn before landing gracefully beside her. He strutted closer to her, cocking his head, and with the smallest amount of hesitance began to preen her. A pair had been made..

Beneath the pair of sparrows, the same female stood silently, the thick canopy of leaves allowed sunlight to filter through, casting a shimmering emerald light. The vivid blue sky was visible in patches through the thick boughs, thick, cottony clouds floating lazily in the endless expanse of blue. Spring had arrived, bringing her cloak of green. The new grass jutted from the black earth crisply, tantalizing the prey animals that were so depended upon by the canines. With the bounty spring brought, nothing starved. Delicate blossoms also sprouted from the earth, their fragrant blooms created a delightful perfume that pressed against one`s nostrils, almost intoxicating. Already insects swarmed back, bees and butterflies hovered above the flowers, and the air buzzed with the song of crickets, locusts, and even frogs added their voices to the din. Wherever you stepped grasshoppers bounded from their grassy hiding places.. Spring had come at last...

Aerolayh felt the laziness of the warm afternoon settling over everything like a thick cloak, even felt it slowing her, no matter how much she tried to deny it. She enjoyed the season, it was paradise while compared to the brutal harshness of winter. With a sigh of contentment passing through her chasms, she paused, lobes pressing forth alertly. The juicy scent of a hare drifted teasingly to her upon the breeze, threading into the scents that were already there. Immediately she began the hunt, nostrils dilating to determine which direction the rabbit was. Fleshy tongue slicing from her jaws to keep from salivating, the alpess began forward stealthily. Blessed with a keen sense of smell, she located her meal quickly and expertly, eying the prize before she shot from the foliage, lunging forward in an attempt to pin the mammal to the ground. Landing on the earth with a hollow thud, a snarl of frustration covered her features as the hare slipped from her paws and darted away, hidden in the forestry. She felt no shame in attempting to capture the small mammal, it would`ve dulled the ache of hunger, that was all she sought, she wasn`t above preying upon 'lesser' animals. A meal was a meal, right?

Indeed fast, the alphena boasted an average-sized bod, but her build was willowy rather than solid, her limbs lengthy. It was obvious that her main talent was agility and speed rather than strength, but this didn`t stop her from being a skilled hunter, not that this had showed when she`d gone after the rabbit. The ordeal irked her, and she displayed her irritation with her lobes pressing against her skull. She stalked forward, lobes pricked forward as another scent passed through her nostrils. This was was quite different from the one of the hare that had made her stomach groan in hunger.. No, this smell was of an out-sider entering Terrafall. Her immediate reaction was surprise. How had somebody found their way into the pack? Shaking her head to clear the thoughts, she continued forward again, something about this particular canine unsettled her.

As she neared the lupine, she knew. It was a male, and then it grew clearer. The alphen position was quite open for the taking. Another growl of frustration passed through her lips as she halted. Must she deal with this now? Tongue glazed the top of her muzzle again in thought. What if she simply allowed the male to wander about? No, she couldn`t allow that. Pushing herself forward through the thick forestry, she suddenly caught barely audible words. Irritated, she emerged from the thicket, viewing the speaker. The male was a silver hue, nothing out-of-the-ordinary about his experience. Unlike most females, appearances did nothing to her thoughts, attractive or not, she cared little, same as her own appearance. Nobody respected beauty, they used it. "Apparently I`ve come out. So, I suppose you think you`re here for the alphen position." She spoke dryly, words blunt while waiting expectantly for a reply.

Staring at the female with mock surprise, voids bored blandly into hers, searching… Her words came swift, in a rush as the background noise filtered out, vanishing into the abyss at the blink of an eye. “Good guess, miss, but no.” cocking his handsome dial to the left, he took one step forwards, keeping his gaze locked upon hers. “I’ve come to request the alpha position, for even you must be overwhelmed by the barrage of lupines flooding into Terrafall these days. I can help, for I have been alphen before, as my ‘father’ before me.” Lowering his haunches he sat before her, coolly inspecting the feminine canine who stood before him today.

“My name is Severe, it is a pleasure miss… Oh, I’m sorry, it seems I haven’t yet caught your name. Flashing a wry smile towards the femora, his sulphuric colored voids closed shut, and he took in a deep breath, relaxing fully as the breeze tousled his darkened strands.

[OOC; Sorry it is so short, I am insanely museless for Sev, and FBR!]
